The trains on the extension line of Metro Line 5 between Qianhaiwan Station and Chiwan Station began test runs yesterday.
The runs on Line 5, which will last 20 days without carrying passengers, are in preparation for the opening of the extension line at the end of September.
The schedule of Metro Line 5 will remain unchanged during the test run, and a total of 51 trains are being operated on the whole line。
The test run is an important step for safety assessment before the opening of a rail.
Passengers are advised to get off the trains at the Line 5 terminus at Qianhaiwan Station before the trains continue their trips to Chiwan Station without carrying passengers.
The southern extension of Metro Line 5, also called Phase II of Line 5, runs 7。7 kilometers with seven stations, including three transfer stations with the existing Line 2, Line 9 and future Line 15。 It runs through Qianhai FTA and Nanshan District。
Shenzhen Metro Line 5, running through the northern part of Shenzhen, opened in June 2011. The 40-km line starts at Qianhaiwan in Qianhai and ends at Huangbeiling in Luohu.
The opening of the extension line will enable Line 5 and Line 2 to form a circle with interchange stations at Chiwan and Huangbeiling, the ends of the two lines。 (Han Ximin)
